Clare’s new Minister of State says lessons will have to be learned about felling trees near grid connections following Storm Éyown.
Tulla Deputy Timmy Dooley will assume special responsibility for the Marine and Fisheries having been appointed to Junior Minister positions at the Departments of Agriculture and the Environment yesterday.
As thousands here remain without electricity, government bodies have come in for widespread criticism for not felling or replanting trees close to power lines in advance of the storm.
Minister of State Dooley insists that while this should have been done, the Government’s response has been extensive.
