Clare’s Junior Minister Insists No Giveaway Budget In Store

Clare’s Junior Minister insists the government will be prudent when planning for the 2019 Budget.

It comes as the Summer Economic Statement revealed an extra 800 million euro will be available for extra spending or tax cuts.

An overall budget package of 3.4 billion euro is available for Minster Paschal Donohoe with a commitment that his department will implement a 2:1 ratio of investment versus tax cuts.

Fine Gael colleague Pat Breen says while the economy is currently performing well, it doesn’t mean the purse strings should be loosened too far.
