Amalgamation of Clare’s Garda Districts takes effect today with Superintendents no longer present in Killaloe and Ennistymon.
Though the post of Superintendent hasn’t been filled in Killaloe in recent years, the area is now under the control of the Ennis Garda District which also has responsibility for Shannon.

Kilrush District assumes control of the Ennistymon area from today – with Superintendent Gerry Wall in charge of both areas, while Superintendent Derek Smart has left Ennistymon to take up the same role in Ennis.
Gardaí say there’ll be no change in local policing services for the public.
