The Shannon-based President of Active Retirement Ireland insists that older people are paying the price for the actions of others.
It comes as the National Public Health Emergency team has recommended older people limit their movements, in response to an increase in cases in the last two weeks.
But the move if it comes to pass, is likely to be met with anger.
The Health Minister will bring the NPHET recommendations to a full sitting of the cabinet this afternoon.
The meeting of all Ministers wasn’t originally scheduled, and the change has led to speculation that new restrictions will be confirmed.
NPHET is recommending cutting the number of people that can meet inside a home, or outside the house, that people be asked to work from home where possible and – most controversially – that older people be asked to limit their movements again.
