Fianna Fail Councillor Pat Daly was elected to the role of Mayor of Ennis this afternoon.
First elected to Clare County Council in 1999 and having previously served as Mayor of Clare, Pat Daly is a native of Parnell Street, and having moved only as far as Gallows Hill, the Fianna Fail representative described becoming Mayor of his home town as a great honour.
Cllr Daly received the unanimous support of all Councillors on the Ennis Municipal District after he was proposed for the role of Mayor by Quin Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy and seconded by Barefield's Ann Norton.
Fine Gael's Mary Howard will be his Deputy Mayor for the year ahead, after she was proposed and seconded by party colleagues, Paul Murphy from Clarecastle and Johnny Flynn the outgoing Ennis Mayor
