The native of Co. Limerick brought 30 years policing experience to the role, but it’s one he’s now leaving.
He’s been transferred to a senior role within the Garda’s Special Crimes Operations.
While there was a near-three month wait to fill the vacancy at the start of this year, that won’t be the case this time around.
Newly-promoted to the position of Chief Superintendent, Sean Colleran will be taking up the role from Tuesday of next week.
He has significant Garda experience and in recent years has worked in senior roles in a number of Garda stations in the West of the Country.
