Clare’s Chief Fire Officer is warning that chimney and house fires occur every Christmas that could be avoided.
The main causes of fire at this time of year are candles left unaccompanied, older non-LED fairy lights and Christmas trees falling over.

Clare’s County Fire Service says open fires without fireguards and decorations in close proximity to open flames are also a big concern.
