It was already known that he was coming back to Ireland later this month, along with his wife Camilla, and this afternoon Clarence House have confirmed details of their itineraries.

They say that Prince Charles will travel to the Burren on the afternoon of Tuesday May 19th, his first day in Ireland.

The Royal press release describes the Burren to the international media as being "famous for its wild and rocky terrain, rare plant life, biodiversity and archaeology" and there are already hopes that his visit will showcase this internationally.

Other functions on the couple's trip to Ireland include a private dinner with President Higgins and his wife Sabine and a visit to Mullaghmore in Co. Sligo where Prince Charles' great-uncle Lord Mountbatten was killed in an IRA bombing in 1979.
