A Clare short-term let operator claims a blurring of borders between communities could put him out of business.

The Government announced plans in February whereby planning permissions would be required for short-term lets in towns with populations of over 20,000.

Clarecastle Airbnb operator Liam Daly claims his village’s population is being counted in Ennis’s, meaning his property is deemed to be in an area of 20,000 people or more.

He says this could force him to wind down his venture.
