Clare Youth Worker Says Balance Needed With New Online Content Legislation

A Clare youth worker says a balance needs to be struck in new legislation on online content between regulation and freedom of speech.

Media Minister Catherine Martin has received Government approval to publish a new bill whch could see social media companies fined up to 20 million euro for failing to tackle harmful content.

It’ll also allow for the appointment of an Online Safety Commissioner as part of a new overall Media Commission.
