Clare Women Call For Breast Density To Be Included In Screening

Breast cancer survivors in Clare are calling for women to be routinely told their breast density as part of breast screening, saying greater awareness could help women better understand their screening results and breast cancer risk.

The call comes as part of the “Tell Me My Breast Density” campaign, led by Lobular Breast Cancer Ireland, which is raising awareness of invasive lobular breast cancer.

Standardised breast density reporting is in place in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, France and the US, but has not yet been introduced here.

Patient Advocate Kate Healy from Cratloe, is among a delegation presenting to TDs and Senators at Leinster House later this month, and she’s urging women not to ignore the symptoms of breast cancer.
