Ellen Moore underwent a Symphysiotomy at a hospital in the Midlands in 1965 – however she has yet to be given access to her medical records.

The procedure involved splitting a woman's pelvis or pubic bone in two – to allow for birthing – as a replacement for cesarean sections.

Ellen's had several operations since and now lives with a colostomy bag.
