Clare water safety chiefs praise teenagers after River rescue in Ennis

Clare’s Water Safety Chief says the dramatic rescue of a woman from the River Fergus in Ennis highlights the importance of life saving equipment.

Ellen McMahon, Aisling O’Sullivan and Eve Copley had just finished up their Junior Cert exam on Tuesday when they witnessed a woman in difficulty in the River Fergus on Lifford Road.

The woman had been wallking her dog near Steeles Rock but the animal went into the water, and in trying to rescue him, she got into difficulty herself.
