A Clare Transport Provider has described a 6.5 million euro support package for Taxi, Hackney and Limousine Operators as a simple peace offering.

The Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan has announced the funding to aid drivers in their recovery from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It includes a 3 million euro for the continued waiver of the licence fees in 2022 and a 2 million euro scheme specifically for taxi and hackney operators.

PJ Keogh of PK Travel says the whole business has been turned upside down over the past year and that while the funding allocation is relatively small, every bit helps.
