Clare is set to see the delivery of a number of new-build social houses under a new Government funding allocation.
It forms part of a €436m nationwide investment, announced by Housing Minister James Browne.
Under the new allocation, €111m will be invested in the construction of over 1,300 new social homes across the country by 2027.
Of this, 542 will be built in Dublin, with a further 234 to be delivered in Cork.
Westmeath, Meath, Limerick, Kerry and Wicklow will each see construction started on between 55 and 60 homes, while 30 projects have been approved in Kilkenny.
The remaining 231 homes promised under the 82 new projects will be built cumulatively across Clare and 12 other counties.
Meanwhile €325M has been granted to the Social Housing Second-Hand Acquisitions Programme.
This enables local authorities to acquire second hand properties to provide support for tenant-in-Situ acquisitions, older persons and persons with a disability, those seeking to exits homeless service and acquisitions of property that tackle vacancy.
As part of the programme Clare County Council will have the flexibility to allocate funding under any of those criteria, based on the level of need around the county.
