Clare To Be Represented At World Lifesaving Championships

Seven Clare Lifeguards are travelling to Holland this September for the World Lifesaving Championships.

It's organised by the International Lifesaving Federation, which is the world authority in the global effort to prevent drowning by working with national lifesaving organisations to improve water safety.

There are 32 full-time lifeguards in place at 11 locations in Clare, nine of those are blue flags beaches and two are green coast beaches.

Seven of those will travel to Holland as part of the National Surf Lifesaving Team and Head Lifeguard at Lahinch, Bernard Cahill says the sport plays a huge part in what lifeguards do on a daily basis
