A Clare TD claims allowing early childhood graduates to work as substitute teachers in primary schools would significantly ease pressure on principals.
Bodyke Fine Gael Deputy Joe Cooney is urging the Minister for Education to allow Early Childhood Care and Education graduates to step in as substitutes in Junior and Senior Infants classes.

It comes amid an ongoing shortage of subs nationwide.
Deputy Cooney believes at the very least, it would be a sensible stopgap until the recruitment crisis can be meaningfully addressed.
