A vote on who should be the new Taoiseach will take place this coming Thursday, although neither Fine Gael's Enda Kenny or Fianna Fail's Micheal Martin is expected to receive sufficient support.

Talks on forming a new government are continuing though, and both parties are expected to reach out to Independents, including Dr. Michael Harty.

Speaking on Clare FM's Morning Focus, the Kilmihil-based TD today confirmed that he has met with a number of other Independents, and that together they're seeking Dail reform to secure greater speaking rights.

He says he's yet to decide how he will vote on Thursday, but believes that seeking reforms is the most productive approach

Elsewhere, one prominent Clare Fianna Fáil figure doesn't believe that his party will go into coalition with Fine Gael.

Seanad candidate Eoin Naylon is President of Ogra Fianna Fail.

The Ballyea man is unsure that party members would give their backing to any so-called 'grand coalition'.

Meanwhile, the Justice Minister says Enda Kenny has the full support of Fine Gael.

Frances Fitzgerald says Fine Gaelwouldn't go into negotiations to form a government undermining their leader.

She said as the party has the largest number of seats, it's their responsibility to try and form a stable government.

Frances Fitzgerald has been tipped as a candidate to replace Enda Kenny, but says right now they're supporting their leader.
