Clare’s Sinn Féin TD claims damage has been done to the reputation of the Ceann Comhairle’s Office after the Government rammed through a vote on Dáil speaking rights.
Opposition leaders are questioning the legitimacy of the vote and will today tell Deputy Verona Murphy they have no confidence in her after the Wexford TD used her powers to skip over the business of the day.

The proposal means regional independents would be considered as “others” and they along with over 50 backbench TDs would get additional speaking slots, however the weekly time for Taoiseach’s questions would be halved.
Shannon Sinn Féin Deputy Donna McGettigan says it flies in the face of democracy.
