A Clare TD says Ireland’s Aviation Policy will have minimal impact on the development of Shannon Airport.

The document, which is the first of its kind in this country, focuses on aviation safety, improved connectivity and growth within the aviation sector.

It states that Shannon airport will be retained by the state but Scarriff-based TD Michael McNamara says this assurance was already given when the Mid-West airport was made independent.

Deputy McNamara has criticised the policy announced by the Transport Minister saying future business is more of a concern for Shannon.
