A Clare TD has labelled the scarcity of women’s refuges in the county a “dismal prospect”.
Independent TD Violet Anne-Wynne has made the comments during a Dáil debate on “tackling all forms of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence”.

One of the main goals of Cuan – the state agency for domestic, sexual and gender-based violence established last year – is to deliver 280 accessible refuge accommodation units by 2026.
Kilrush Deputy Wynne insists it must be made clear if and when Clare will see increased provision of safe spaces.
