Clare's Labour TD says a new law aimed at serial burglars will empower Gardaí and act as a deterrant to criminal gangs.

TDs have debated the Burglary of Dwellings Bill, which will allow Gardaí to object to bail in cases where repeat offenders are accused of carrying out further crimes.
This comes shortly after a national DNA database was launched.
Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy Michael McNamara outlined what Clare Gardaí have told him about their experiences in investigating these crimes.
