Clare TD Claims “Box Ticking Approach” To Housing Delivery Is Contributing To Homelessness

A Clare Independent TD is calling on the government to ramp up the delivery of social and affordable housing throughout the county.

A record number of 13,179 people nationwide, including 68 adults in Clare have been documented as homeless heading into the Winter period.

So far this year the local authority’s social housing directorate has delivered just over 50% of its targeted stock, while applications for the affordable housing scheme are only open to residents of Ennis and Shannon.
