Clare TD calls for road network improvement

Clare’s Fianna Fail TD has called on the government to use the fruits of the country’s debt deal to boost the standard of the road network.

Deputy Timmy Dooley made the call on Minister Leo Varadkar said there would be a ‘tangible benefit’ from the agreement, which cuts Ireland’s annual debt burden by around 1 billion euro.

In recent weeks, the government has announced a further cut of almost 2 million euro in funding for maintenance on Clare’s primary and secondary roads, but Deputy Dooley feels a change in Ireland’s economic health should prompt a re-think from the coalition
