Deputy Michael Harty is commenting following confirmation that the The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources is to make good on his promise to visit the West Clare Power station.
Minister Denis Naughten had told the Dáil that he was open to visiting the West Clare facility, and it has now been confirmed that he will do so next Wednesday, to see what alternatives to coal may be implemented.
The coal-burning power plant is set to be decommissioned in 2025 and Dr Michael Harty believes a decision on its future is needeed sooner rather than later
