A Clare TD has branded the Government’s failure to set a date for the General Election a “disgrace” and a “distraction from the real issues”.
It’s been revealed those who escort students with special needs on school buses are paid €13.40 a week which is 20 cents below the minimum wage.
Kilrush Independent TD Violet-Anne Wynne raised this matter with the Education Minister last Tuesday and although she was told a response would be issued within five working days, she has yet to receive a reply.
Ahead of the Taoiseach’s General Election date announcement tomorrow, Deputy Wynne says by leaving it so late to set a date, the Government has moved the focus away from the problems affecting people on a daily basis.
