Clare Fine Gael TD, Joe Carey has been appointed as Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications
The appointment follows an extensive reshuffle of positions of responsibility within the party by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

Carey will succeed party colleague and Limerick TD, Kieran O’Donnell in the role who was recently promoted to Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The Clarecastle Deputy will continue to serve as Chairman of the Oireachtas group on Shannon Airport and is expected to take up his new responsibilities when he returns from sick leave.
