A Clare TD has accused the Government of failing to follow through on its commitment to boost the number of inpatient beds for people with eating disorders in the Midwest.
Addressing Minister of State at the Department of Health Mary Butler in the Dáíl, Shannon Deputy Donna McGettigan has highlighted that there are no dedicated public inpatient beds for adults with anorexia or other eating disorders in this region.
There are currently 20 dedicated eating disorder beds across the four CAMHS inpatient units located in Cork, Galway and Dublin.
Deputy McGettigan says people in need are being sent to psychiatric units where they’re not receiving appropriate care.
