The President of the Clare branch of SVP says the prospect of people already in financial difficulty having to fork out even more in energy costs is ‘very worrying’.
It’s after suggestions petrol and diesel prices could hit more than two euro a litre in a matter of weeks due to international sanctions being placed on Russia.
Government Ministers have said no further measures to address the cost of living will be announced until October’s Budget, with an energy grant and reduction in public transport fares amongst the initatives announced earlier this month.
Clare SVP President Denis Carty says people are turning to the service who have no choice but to use private cars for transport.
