The President Of the Clare branch of SVP is calling for the government to introduce a new suite of measures to curb the cost of living crisis in 2023.
The charity recieved More than 191,000 requests for help nationwide in 2022, while in October calls for help in Clare were up 40% from the same month of the previous year.
SVP are calling for further increases in core social welfare rates to be tied with inflation, the quicker introduction of a living wage and for an improved fuel allowance.
Clare SVP President Denis Carty says it’s important action is taken to ensure billpayers don’t face difficult situations such as choosing between food and heating their homes.
