The Clare branch of Saint Vincent de Paul is calling on the new government to make eradicating poverty its main priority.
It comes as the first sitting of the 34th Dáil got underway this morning, following the general election last month.

Clare SVP Area President, Denis Carty, says the new program for government needs to ensure it provides an adequate liveable wage, take strides towards free education and deliver more social housing.
He says this is desperately needed as now more than ever, greater volumes of people across Clare that are in long term employment are seeking out the services of Saint Vincent de Paul.
