Just over 700 young women and 680 young men in Clare have been receiving their Leaving Cert results online today, after an unprecedented two years.

The results have hit a record high for the second year in a row, with grade inflation up 2.6 percent this year compared to last.

The largest jumps can be seen in the results for higher level subjects, including Irish, Maths and English.

Dylan Egan, who’s a student at Mary Immaculate Secondary School in Lisdoonvarna received 8 H1s and says he’s delighted with the achievement.

The class of 2021 had the opportunity of receiving accredited grades, sitting the exam or both.

Principal at Ennistymon Secondary School, Mary Lyons believes the right decisions were made to relieve pressure.

Students will now turn their attention towards securing college places, aprenticeships or post-leaving cert courses.

CAO offers are out next Tuesday and while points are expected to go up this year, students are being advised not to worry as there are an additional 4,000 college places available.
