Clare Sports Clubs Make Funding Applications

71 sports clubs and organisations throughout County Clare have applied for funding under this year’s Sports Capital Programme, but many are likely to face disappointment as demand for funds is totally outstripping supply.

Nationally, 2152 applications have been made seeking a total of 224 million euro – the scheme’s total allocation is 30 million.

In all, groups here are seeking 5.3 million euro of funding, but Shannon Senator Tony Mulcahy admits many Clare clubs will not be succesful.

A final decision will be announced later this year – previously, facilities at Ennistymon Recreation & Leisure Centre, Tulla Soccer Club, Crusheen GAA Club and Killaloe/Ballina Tennis Club are among those to have received money under the Sports Capital Programme.
