The number of households requiring social housing in Clare has fallen by 130 since the beginning of the year.
New figures show the demand for a social home in this county is at its lowest since 2020.
There are now approximately 2,699 individuals, couples and families on the social housing waiting list in Clare.
This is the first time in over five years that the number of households awaiting an offer in this county has dipped below 2,700.
At the start of the year 2,830 households were seeking social housing here, meaning there’s been a net exit of 130 households since January alone.
Of those on the list, more than 3 in 4 are seeking a one or a two-bed home , 16% are seeking a three-bed home and just 5.5% are looking for a four or five bed property.
Ennis continues to attract the lion’s share of demand for social housing, with over 1,100 applicants wanting to be located in the county town, this falls to 220 for Shannon, while Clarecastle is the next most desirable area, garnering 199 applications.
