A Clare Sinn Féin representative is hitting out over a failure by the government to implement a long term strategy to tackle issues of overcrowding and staffing retention in hospitals.
It comes as new figures released to the party show 5,997 medical appointments were cancelled in the MidWest in the first quarter of the year.
Sinn Féin is tabling a motion in the Dáil today calling for the implementation of a multi-annual health service capacity plan.
Shannon based Councillor, Donna McGettigan has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that mandatory safe staffing levels need to be enshrined in legislation as a matter of urgency, to mitigate severe waiting list backlogs.
