Clare’s Sinn Féin Councillor claims the UL Hospitals Group’s response to the findings of HIQA’s latest inspection shows a complete lack of urgency to tackle persistent problems at the MidWest region’s main facility.
During the unannounced visit in February, inspectors noted that the level of overcrowding continued to impact on the privacy & dignity of patients, despite the best efforts of staff.
In a statement , the UL Hospitals Group welcomed ‘an explicit acknowledgement in the report’ that overcrowding at the Emergency Department will remain an unfortunate reality until the mismatch between service demand and bed capacity is addressed.
Shannon Councillor, Donna McGettigan says the statement is extremely disappointing.
