Clare's Sinn Féin Election Candidate is rejecting claims that an IRA Army Council still exists.
It follows the release of a report by the PSNI and MI5 which claimed the IRA still maintains an army council and has control over Sinn Féin.

The report says the group is committed to the peace process but that individual members are engaged in criminal activity including smuggling.
But Clare's Sinn Féin election candidate is rejecting this, saying the Árd Comhairle is the governing body of her party and she believes this report is nothing short of a "red herring".
The Taoiseach and the British Prime Minister are now calling for talks in the North to 'intensify' following the release of the report.
