Clare Short Term Rental Host Fears Planning Changes Will Disproportionately Affect Female Carers

A Clare short-term rental host is rasing fresh concerns over the impact strict planning regulation changes would have on employment opportunities.

The Department of Tourism is attempting to introduce the Short-Term Tourist Letting Bill which would require hosts making their premises available to tourists for longer than 21 days to apply for change of use planning permission.

The Government believes the scheme could potentially free up an additional 12,000 homes for the long term rental market, but the European union has described the bill as too restrictive for holiday sites wishing to do business.

Miltown based Air BnB host, Lorna Cahill feels female carers would be particularly affected by strict changes to legislation.
