Clare set to remember its Titanic passengers

Three Clare Passengers on board the Titanic will be remembered at local ceremonies this weekend, 100 years since the ill fated liner sank with the loss of over 1500 lives.

Two Clare men were lost when the ship went down – 20 year old Martin McMahon from Cragbrien, Ennis and 35 year old Daniel Keane from Cratloe.

While Mary Glynn – a 19 year old girl from Flagmount survived the disaster and went on to build a new life in Washington DC.

Her life will be honoured at commeration events in East Clare this Sunday, and speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus today, her niece Peggy Keane recalled her bravery during the rescue
