A Clare Government Senator is calling on the Health Minister to ‘go back to the drawing board’ on proposals for an elective-only hospital for the Midwest.
It’s after senior personnel from the UL Hospitals Group doubled down on their ask for such a facility in an appearance before the Oireachtas Health Committee yesterday.
The all-party Slaintecare plan contains provisions for elective facilities in Dublin, Cork and Galway only, with a proposal for a facility in the Midwest understood to be under review.
Ennistymon-based Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway, who’s his party’s Seanad spokesperson on health, says the Minister needs to get clarity from the HSE on the matter.
