Clare’s Fianna Fáíl Senator insists RTÉ presenters hold no share of the blame for the current payments scandal.
It follows an apology from Quilty Gaelic Games Correspondent Marty Morrissey who revealed he had a car loaned to him by Renault for a period of five years, despite receiving no vehicle maintenance expenses during this time.
The information came to light at the Oireachtas Media Committee yesterday after Senator Timmy Dooley questioned the prevalence of staff car allowances within the organisation.
The development is the latest in the RTÉ saga since an independent audit of the company’s finances revealed that Ryan Tubridy received undisclosed payments amounting to €345,000 over a seven year period through a deal brokered by agent Noel Kelly.
Mountshannon Senator, Timmy Dooley has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that the buck should have stopped with senior management to ensure their finances were used responsibly.
