Clare’s Fine Gael Senator believes the residents of Inch made the correct decision to remove a locally erected barricade at both approach roads to Magowna House.
The Inch Community Group lifted the controversial roadblock yesterday after reaching a compromise with Minister of State at the Department of Integration, Joe O’Brien that no additional Asylum Seekers will be housed at Magowna in the next four weeks.
Despite the removal of the blockade, the group confirmed their peaceful protest will continue at both access points to Magowna House, over what a cohort of locals deem to be a ‘totally unsuitable area for Asylum Seekers’.
Ennistymon based Senator, Martin Conway says while he’s hopeful a clear pattern of dialogue has been established to resolve the situation, the government must bear responsibility for creating a barrier to information.
