Clare's Senator is urging Gardaí and teachers to continue to engage in talks in the hope of preventing industrial action from going ahead.
Martin Conway is commenting as the Government comes under increasing pressure over the prospect of secondary school closures and an absense of Gardaí on the beat, on a number of days over the next month.
The ASTI, AGSI and GRA unions are seeking the restoration of pay cuts imposed during the recession but the Government says the Lansdowne Road agreement will remain in place until a new public pay commission reports.
Senator Conway is calling on all parties to come together to prevent industrial action from going ahead – he's referred to the Garda strike as a particularly serious issue.
