There has been an almost 20% decrease in the amount people on the live register in Clare in the last year.
The latest CSO figures illustrate that as of the end of September just over 3,500 people were signing on in this county.
The new figures indicate a drop off of 882 people from the total of 4,451 seen at the end of the September 12 months ago.
This years figure of 3,569 indicates a reduction of 19.8% within the last year, while also representing a 12% decrease from August’s figure of 4,083.
There were marginally more men than women signing on last month, with 1,853 men registered as of September 30th, while there was 1,716 women signing on in the county.
Of the total figure, just 379 of those signing on last month were aged under 25, while the remaining 3,190 were older than 25.
Ennis’ Social Welfare Office recorded over half of the traffic in the county last month with 1,930 people signing on there.
Meanwhile, there was 585 registered in Kilrush, Ennistymon saw 570 people sign on while Tulla recorded the lowest traffic at 484 people.
Clare’s total was comfortably the lowest in Munster, 1,620 below Tipperary. Cork meanwhile had the most sign ons in Munster in September with 13,257.
