New figures have confirmed a fall-off in the number of investors who visited County Clare last year.
The IDA brought 13 companies to the county in 2018, down from 22 the year before.
The Clare figure of 13 site visits reported by the IDA throughout last year is at its lowest level since 2015.
No further details are given on the locations of the visits, aside from their county, but they’re seen as a key step in attracting foreign direct investment to an area.
The total number of visits nationally fell last year, but the rate of the reduction here was greater than that for all of Ireland.
And while the IDA has trumpted its achievements in the regions over recent years, the statistics show that Dublin remains the preferred destination for potential investors, with 44% of all site visits occurring in the capital.
Counties including Louth, Sligo, Waterford and Westmeath were among those with a greater number of visits than Clare.
