Clare has seen a drastic reduction in the number of homes granted planning permission in the last year.
New Central Statistics Office data shows an overall reduction throughout the year, despite an upturn in the final quarter of 2024.
Permission was granted for 482 units across the county last year, down from 577 in 2023.
This represents a 20% reduction in the number of permissions granted in the space of a year, in line with the countrywide reduction of 21%.
Of this 223 were for houses, 17 were for multidevelopment houses, 36 apartments were approved, while permission was granted for 206 one off houses.
The final quarter of the year did show an upturn despite the overall decline.
Permission was granted on 140 units between October and December, up 10% from the 127 at the same time last year.
Flats and apartments saw the greatest increase with 7 seeing approval in the last quarter of 2024, up from just one in 2023.
Meanwhile 66 houses, two multidevelopment houses and 64 one off houses were granted.
