Clare has seen an almost 20% drop in the number of houses in the highest energy rating bracket in the last 12 months.
New Central Statistics Office figures for the third quarter of 2024 also indicate a similar drop in the number of homes that received a ‘B’ rating over the same period.
The latest CSO figures identify 469 homes in this county that received either an A1, A2 or A3 grade for their building energy rating.
This is 19% decrease from the 579 that were recorded for quarter three of 2023, with the number of A2 rated properties providing the most striking change, down by 62 in the year to September.
The number of homes that were awarded a ‘B’ rating has also taken a hit in the past year.
In 2023, 794 homes were recorded in the ‘B’ category, which has since fallen to 640, also a 19% decrease.
The most common grade awarded for a house in the third quarter of 2023 was ‘C’, with 623 homes receiving this grade.
There was however, a decrease in the number of homes that received the lowest grades for their energy efficiency rating.
Q3 of this year saw 178 homes in this county receive either an ‘F’ or ‘G’ rating, a 14% decrease from 2023’s figure of 208
