A Clare retained firefighter says being able to assist friends and neighbours is one of the most rewarding aspects of the job.
It comes as a recruitment drive is underway at fire stations across the country amid shortages in many areas.

A total of 562 new retained firefighters have been recruited and trained nationwide since September 2023.
