People living in certain counties along the west coast and south east coast are being urged to test for the presence of radon gas in their homes.

Radon has been classed by the World Health Organisation as a carcinogen on par with smoking or asbestos exposure.
There are other pockets of radon around the country – counties Clare Waterford, Kerry, Galway, Sligo, South Tipperary and Carlow have all been shown to have high levels of the gas.
