The Clare representative of Ireland’s largest teaching union says members will need to see a pay increase matching the rate of inflation plus an additional 1 or 2%.
The Irish National Teacher’s Organisation are holding their first in-person conference in two years this week, as are second-level teaching unions, the ASTI and the TUI.

A 1% pay increase is due to come into effect for primary school teachers in October, however the INTO are hoping this will be brought forward.
Brendan Horan says a new pay agreement needs to be finalised, however he doesn’t predict industrial action at this time.
